OTTAWA – Commissioner Marla Rodriguez announced that Ottawa’s Riordan Pool would not be opening for the 2020 season. She explained that her biggest concerns at this time are health and public safety, and that it seemed irresponsible to invest in the many necessary repairs for the pool without knowing if it could be open for the summer. Rodriguez also stated that the improvements planned for Thornton Park would not take place this year. As the city’s revenue is mainly determined by sales tax, Rodriguez said the revenue stream is largely uncertain for the next year.
