STREATOR – The Streator Fire Department added 20 new airpacks to replace 15 older style units.   The SCBA airpacks, bottles, and masks were purchased through a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant.  The new airpacks are manufactured by 3M/Scott and feature several new safety features,  including a Drag Rescue Loop to assist with the rescue of a downed fire fighter.

They also include a Universal Emergency Breathing Support System that will allow firefighters to breathe air from the bottle of another firefighter in the event that an airpack has an issue.   Also added is a PakTracker technology will allow for rescuers to find downed firefighters using the pack and radio signals.

In addition to the kits Streator Fire added 40 new 45-minute bottles and 20 new Scott 3000HT masks.
