Scientists Differ on Projected Illinois Covid Deaths

SPRINGFIELD – Two prominent universities have different scenarios for the Covid-19 pandemic in Illinois.  The University of Washington Institute for Health Metrics, which was speculated to have been used by the White House in March to justify lockdowns, predicts that Illinois has passed its peak in number of daily deaths and hospital usage, peaking both in the early week of May.  The University of Texas Modelling Consortium, however, says Illinois has not peaked yet, and will probably peak in number of daily deaths between May 20th and May 26th.  So far, Illinois has recorded 3200 Covid-19 deaths, with the most daily deaths, 170, occurring this past Tuesday.
