UTICA – State Parks throughout the area will open on May 29th according to the revised rules announced by Governor J.B. Pritzker Wednesday, but not all of Starved Rock will likely be accessible. The flooding along the Illinois River plus the potential for additional rains means the lower lot area of the park will likely remain closed. The National Weather Service prediction for May 29th shows the river will still be overflowing into parts of Starved Rock State Park. Dee Bennett Road and attractions like the I&M Canal and Buffalo Rock may be accessible if waters recede.
