Delaware swimmer helps shark get free from fishing hook

LEWES, Del. (AP) — Usually when a human comes in contact with a shark’s mouth in the waters off a beach, it’s no laughing matter. But a swimmer who had such an encounter over the weekend has managed to come out OK. The swimmer was in the waters off Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes (LOO’-ehs), Delaware. And he was caught on camera prying a shark’s mouth open with his hands. It wasn’t to get himself free — but to free the shark from a fishing hook someone else had cast. Details of the shark rescue are reported in the Daily Times of Salisbury, where one woman describes the scene as something out of the movie “Jaws.”
