High winds topple trees Friday evening in North Central Illinois

OTTAWA – High winds with an early evening storm toppled trees and knocked out power for over a thousand in North Central Illinois Friday. Nearly 300 remained without power Saturday morning after the storm, which swept across the area bringing with it watches and warnings. In Troy Grove, a large tree fell across the ball diamond in the park, however, it was not near the tree made famous for the nest which is the home of the community’s bald eagles. Power lines were downed from Seneca to Prarie Center, with crews working all night to restore service. No injuries were reported.
