Over $12,000 given to State’s Attorney Office for pot expungements

OTTAWA – The process to expunge prior convictions related to cannabis will begin soon in LaSalle County.   State’s Attorney Karen Donnelly announced on Friday that her office has received a check for $12,285 for review of cannabis cases eligible for expungement.   The funds, provided by the Office of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor, will be deposited straight into the county coffers.  Over 700,000 arrests for low level possession of cannabis could be removed from records statewide by 2025.
