OGLESBY – More than 1,000 Illinois Valley Community College students received over $650,000 in federal CARES Act funding this month.  Vice President for Student Services Mark Grzybowski said 1,087 students received a total of $654,600 with awards ranging from $200 to $1,000. The average student received about $600.  Specifically, 305 students received $1000, 126 received $800, 294 received $600 and 362 received $200. The grants, based on credit hours enrolled, went to students who were at IVCC when the pandemic began last spring.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $2 trillion economic relief package, was passed by Congress in late March.
