STREATOR – A Streator man is in custody facing a number of charges after authorities spent two days searching for him after a firearms incident. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office say that 34-year-old allegedly fired a gun at his estranged wife’s residence on Saturday night in rural Streator. The occupants of the home fled, and Deputies and Streator Police began a search for Fortson, who was eventually located Monday reportedly leaving a home in Streator. Before he could be taken into custody, he allegedly ran on foot through a number of yards and neighborhoods. Fortson was eventually found by Streator Police hiding in brush and taken to the LaSalle County Jail where he is being held on a $30,000 bond. He has been charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Other charges for the man may be pending.
