SPRINGFIELD – 2,056 new cases of coronavirus were announced in Illinois, along with 25 additional deaths. The Illinois Department of Public Health has reported over 268,000 cases since the start of the pandemic, with over 8,000 deaths. As of Wednesday evening, the IDPH stated that 1,558 individuals were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 359 were in the ICU and 144 were on ventilators. The current 7 day positivity rate is 3.6%
