Haunted Houses not allowed; other COVID-19 restrictions advised by IDPH

By: Land Between the Lakes KY/TN

SPRINGFIELD – The Halloween celebrations across Illinois will have to be different this year according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.   In guidelines released for the upcoming holiday, they say haunted houses are not allowed in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.   Other activities, like parties, are to be kept to under 50 people or 50% of room capacity.   They also advise washing hands often and the use of cloth masks, even under costumes.  They suggest for trick or treating leaving the candy spaced apart so a six foot social distance can be maintained at all times.

“Unfortunately, this year, the safest way to celebrate is to stay home and plan virtual gatherings” said Dr. Ngozi Ezike.

Hayrides, although not banned, were advised to only allow seating six feet apart.
