Mendota man facing a number of cocaine charges after traffic stop

MENDOTA – A Mendota man is facing a number of cocaine charges after a traffic stop and an investigation by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team. They say on September 30th, Mendota Police stopped a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Justin J. Waterworth of Mendota for having an alleged revoked license and two outstanding warrants. During the investigation, authorities say that Waterworth was in the process of delivering around three grams of purported cocaine to agents of Trident prior to being stopped. He was charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver, two counts of Unlawful Delivery, and Driving While License Revoked. TRIDENT said that over the summer Waterworth allegedly delivered cocaine to them on multiple occasions in the Ottawa area. He is being held at the LaSalle County Jail on $500,000 bond.
