Rhode Island pair arrested by TRI-Dent on drug charges


PRINCETON – Two individuals from Rhode Island are in custody after a traffic stop by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team on Wednesday. TRIDENT stated they stopped 36-year-old Leonel A. Rosario of Providence, Rhode Island and 44-year-old Luz N. Torres of Cranston, Rhode Island on Interstate 80 in Bureau County. After an investigation involving a TRIDENT K9, authorities searched the vehicle and allegedly located in various parts of the vehicle 9 lbs of purported methamphetamine and 15 lbs of an unknown substance. The confiscated materials were reportedly in 16 different packages according to TRIDENT. Both were charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, a Class X Felony. Rosario and Torres are currently in the Bureau County Jail awaiting bond.
