Five New COVID-19 Deaths in LaSalle County

OTTAWA – LaSalle County logged five COVID-19 deaths on Monday, the highest one day total since the pandemic began in March.  According to the LaSalle County Health Department, the deaths were two men in their 70’s, two men in their 80’s, and a 90 year old man.  The previous highest number of one day deaths came back on August 17th, in which four people died.  The county also reported the highest number of coronavirus cases on Monday, with 158.  The county says that beginning Sunday, both confirmed and probable cases are being added together in the daily case count.  A confirmed case is a laboratory confirmed molecular test, while a probable case has to meet clinical criteria and be epidemiologically linked or have a positive antigen test.
