MENDOTA – Mendota High School will be leaving the Big Northern Conference at the end of this school year to join the Three Rivers Athletic Conference starting with the 2021-2022 school year. Football Coach Keegan Hill said the change will be exciting for the community and for the student-athletes.
“Bringing back local rivalries is going to be fun to watch and be a part of. There are a lot of quality programs that we will get to compete against on a yearly basis and we look forward to the challenge ahead.”
Mendota joined the Big Northern Conference in 2011, facing schools like Dixon, Byron and Stillman Valley. The Three Rivers Athletic Conference includes Bureau Valley, Hall, Princeton, St. Bede and ten other schools in Bureau, Henry, Lee, Rock Island and Whiteside Counties.
Mendota High School also announced that they will be suspending the basketball season until the IDPH determines it is safe to play.
