SPRINGFIELD – The Better Business Bureau reports they have seen a rise in pet scams, where victims end up paying hundreds of dollars to purchase a pet that doesn’t exist. They advise caution when shopping for a pet online, especially as the demand increases as families try to ease loneliness and tension due to the prolonged pandemic. Nearly 4,000 reported scams have been uncovered this year, costing victims on average around $750.
