Earlville Museum receives 100 year old city whistle

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Historical Society announced that they have added to their collection the city whistle that was in use from 1918-1985. They announced earlier this month that resident Bob Goodbred, who had been storing the item since the 80’s, donated it to the museum for eventual display. The 1918 whistle was installed in a cupola on top of the old city hall before being moved in 1979 to the fire station. The 500lb device was costing Earlville at one time up to $1,000 a year to maintain before it was retired.
