SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health confirmed 178 new COVID-19 related deaths, the highest daily death count the state has seen in nearly two weeks. In addition to the deaths, which included individuals in Bureau and LaSalle County, the IDPH also reported 7,374 new confirmed and probable cases. The state of Illinois has, in total, seen 955,380 cases and 16,357 deaths. As of Tuesday evening, 4,244 individuals in the state were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19 with 882 of those patients in the ICU.
