OGLESBY – BHMG Consulting presented to the City of Oglesby their recommendation about how to manage their electrical system, with a suggesting of increasing expenses and reduce rates for some customers. Consultant Verbal Blakey suggested that infrastructure upgrades and a larger staff will help keep up with the growth and repair needs. They advised the city council that they have within their budget to hire an additional person for the electrical department and stressed the importance of keeping a well trained and competitively paid staff. Blakey also stated that Oglesby has enough of a margin in the rates charged for electricity for small commercial businesses to have a cut in the rates for those customers.
They also advised changing their adjustment date for rates from summer to winter in a way to reduce the impact on residential customers due to lower usage during the winter.
