SPRINGFIELD – After a new set of rules were released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Governor J.B. Pritzker lifted portions of the state’s mask mandate for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Many of the rules were put into place to control the spread of the novel coronavirus in April of 2020. The Illinois Department of Public Health noted that masks will continue to be required in hospitals, doctor’s offices, long term care facilities, jails and on public transportation. The Illinois State Board of Education also will continue to require masks in schools. Business owners will be given the option to allow employees and customers to forgo face coverings for the fully vaccinated in their establishments.
