UNDATED – Farmers in LaSalle County are just about complete putting soybeans and corn in the ground, but with the heatwave sticking around, LaSalle County Farm Bureau President David Isermann says the crops could use a little rain.

Overall crops are holding up, but he says if he could place an order on rain, he would take an inch and a half over 24 hours, but anything is welcomed. If temperatures stay high, Isermann says it won’t be long until the sub-soil is dry. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the northern region of LaSalle County is abnormally dry.
