OGLESBY – With heavy rains over the last few days in LaSalle and Livingston Counties many recreational areas are being flooded along the Vermilion River.  The Lower Dells at Matthiessen State Park were closed on Monday, as was the Oglesby Boat Launch due to the rising water.   The Hopalong Cassidy Canoe Launch in Streator was also inundated.  Over the weekend the lower areas of Starved Rock State Park were also closed in anticipation of the expected flooding from the Illinois River.
