16-year-old Walnut boy dies after striking tree in vehicle accident

SHEFFIELD – A teenager has died after a single-vehicle accident north of Sheffield on Thursday. According to the Bureau County Sherriff’s Officer, Just before 10 a.m., deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on 645 East, approximately 1 mile south of 2000 N Ave north of Sheffield. Authorities say, the 16-year-old male driver
from Walnut appeared to have lost control of his truck and struck a tree. The driver was extricated from the
truck and transported to OSF St. Clare Hospital in Princeton where he was pronounced deceased. There were no passengers. The accident is still under investigation by the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office and Bureau County Coroner’s Office.
