OTTAWA – A homeless man has been identified as the individual that allegedly intruded into an Ottawa residence on Wednesday night. The LaSalle County Coroner’s Office identified the individual as, 33-year-old Matthew E. Cavanagh. Cavanagh allegedly intruded into a residence in the 800 block of Tomahawk Drive just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday and early reports say gunshots were fired. That’s when authorities say they located Cavanagh dead at the scene. Police are calling the incident isolated and is being investigated further by the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office, the Ottawa Police Department, Illinois State Police, and the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office.
