SPRINGFIELD – Early Wednesday the Illinois Senate passed energy legislation that includes wording that could save the nuclear plants in Byron and Morris if it makes it to the Governor. State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris) said the passage of Senate Bill 18 is an important step in securing a better energy future for the state.
“While I don’t agree with every aspect of this legislation” Rezin said in a statement, “What I do support is the fact that this bill will preserve our nuclear fleet and keep thousands of good-paying jobs in our state.”
The bill now awaits review and approval by the Illinois House.
