UNDATED – Harvest has begun in some parts of LaSalle County, however, end-of-season disease and pests have become a concern for yields. LaSalle County Farm Bureau President Dave Isermann says pests like armyworms and stress diseases have stricken corn crops throughout the Midwest region.
Isermann says certain diseases are affecting the weight of yields because some kernels of the same size are varying in density. Overall the LaSalle County Farm Bureau President says despite the adversity, he believes this season has a good corn crop.
