OSF HeathCare Saint Elizabeth Announces DAISY Award Winner

RN Lee Jerde – Photo Provided

OTTAWA – OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center recently awarded its DAISY Award to Lee Jerde. Lee is a registered nurse and works in the Intensive Care Unit at OSF Saint Elizabeth. Jerde has been Mission Partner for over forty-six years and lives in Ottawa.
“We truly appreciate the compassionate care that RNs perform every day and the DAISY Award is one way to recognize these dedicated individuals,” said Heather Bomstad, Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for OSF Saint Elizabeth.
Lee’s nomination included, “Lee was my father’s nurse in ICU. He had to be airlifted to Peoria. My father was quite ill, and honestly, I did not know if he would survive the flight. Lee provided excellent care for my Dad, especially on this day when he was so very weak and sick. As my Dad was being prepared for transport, Lee hugged me, which was exactly what I needed at that moment. Some nurses are skilled at performing the job, but they lack the human touch that is so life-sustaining for patients and their families. Lee has the human touch, the skills, and truly has a calling, and it shows.”
OSF HealthCare encourages patients, family members, and fellow staff to recognize caregivers who have provided exceptional care and service by nominating them for an award to honor their dedication.
