OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Health Department reported last week that only 10 individuals who were considered fully vaccinated have died from COVID-19 in 2021. With only 110 deaths reported so far this year, that means over 90% of the deaths were in unvaccinated individuals. Since the pandemic began, 340 county residents have died from COVID-19. The LaSalle County Health Department indicates that community transmission in the county is high, and that all residents should wear masks indoors, social distance, and get vaccinated if you have not already done so. Just under 50% of county residents eligible to get vaccinated have elected to get it.
