MORRIS – A teen from Grand Ridge was killed in a crash Friday evening on Interstate 80. According to authorities around 8 PM a four vehicle crash occurred in the westbound lanes near Morris that sent two of the vehicles into the eastbound lanes. Both struck oncoming vehicles head on. The driver of one of those vehicles in the eastbound lanes was 18-year-old Carsen R. Smith, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Further details on injuries to others involved are expected to be released later. The crashes are under investigation by the Grundy County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
