PERU – A house fire in Peru caused major damage but no injuries Sunday. The Peru Fire Department were called to the 900 block of 26th Street for a fire that originated in the kitchen of a home. All residents escaped without injury and the fire was knocked down within 20 minutes. The cause of the fire was determined to be from grease in the kitchen. The home reportedly has major fire, smoke and water damage. LaSalle, Oglesby, Spring Valley and Standard Fire Departments assisted in the incident.
