Illinois peaks at over 8,000 COVID-19 cases per day, on average


 
UNDATED – Illinois is averaging over 8,000 new COVID-19 cases a day, the highest numbers since last year according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. The current seven-day new case average for the state also represents a 125% increase over the past month. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports overall cases in the U.S. have grown nearly 50% over the past two weeks. It has been one year since the first COVID-19 vaccines were made available to healthcare workers and other eligible members of the public.
