LASALLE – Three people are in custody after an early Wednesday morning pursuit on I-80.   The Illinois State Police assisted the Chicago Police Department after troopers spotted a vehicle of interest on the Interstate near Utica.  Around 4 AM troopers initiated a traffic stop in the westbound lanes near Peru when the vehicle allegedly fled, continuing west.  The suspects continued traveling about 40 miles to the Annawan exit, where a crash occurred and three men reportedly fled on foot.  The Bureau County States Attorney’s Office approved felony charges on the alleged driver, 23-year-old Shimund R. Jones of Chicago for Aggravated Fleeing / Eluding, Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Child Endangerment. The charges for the two other male minors were not disclosed.  Also present in the vehicle was an 18-year-old female and two juvenile females.

“These arrests send the message to those inflicting violence on our communities that they can run but they can’t hide,” said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly.
