OTTAWA – The Illinois Department of Public Health announced over 200,000 new COVID-19 infections in the last week and an additional 444 deaths. In numbers totaled since December 31, of 2021, the state saw a dramatic climb in new cases and a rise in those hospitalized battling the disease. Locally, LaSalle County reported 10 new deaths and 1,763 new infections over the previous seven days. The LaSalle County Health Department urges everyone 5 years and older to get vaccinated and all eligible individuals to get a booster.
