STREATOR – Streator’s Council will convene in a special meeting to appoint the city’s next mayor. Tara Bedei, a city council member since 2013 will take the oath of office this afternoon. She accepted the appointment last week after former mayor Jimmie Lansford resigned in late December. Lansford cited health and personal issues as his main reasons for resigning. Bedei will fill the mayor’s vacancy until the next municipal election in 2023.
