LOCAL UNDATED – In honor of beloved TV-personality Betty White, fans nationwide and locally have donated to animal organizations for what would have been her 100th birthday on Monday. Betty White, born on January 17th 1922, was a lifetime advocate for animals and for would have been her 100th birthday, social media gathered to create the viral #bettywhitechallenge. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised for animal charities all over the country with the challenge and her legacy has even touched local organization. Over $5,000 was raised for Pet Project Inc. and over $2,000 to Safe House Animal Rescue League in LaSalle County via their social media pages. Other local rescue organizations have asked those to donate online or by mail.
