AMBOY – Amboy residents may be receiving new garbage and recycling trash cans. Mayor John Schamberger announced that the community is negotiating a new contract with Republic Services to upgrade to the larger 95-gallon bins with weekly pickup for trash and every other week for recycling. The Amboy City Council is also looking in to a “spring & fall cleanup” where large dumpsters are placed around town to allow people to get rid of any trash or bulk items that would normally exceed their weekly pickup allowance. The previous contract has been in place for almost 18 years. Residents could see an increase of their bill of about $3.50 if approved.
