PRINCETON – A Massachusetts man is facing felony cocaine charges after being stopped on I-80 in Bureau County. On Thursday the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team say they stopped a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Brendan R. Johnson of Centerville, Massachusetts for allegedly speeding. During the stop the TRIDENT K9 was deployed and reportedly indicated the presence of narcotic odors. Agents conducted a search allegedly found four vacuum sealed packages of a white substance purported to contain around 9 lbs of cocaine. Johnson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver – over 900 grams, a Class X Felony. He was transported to the Bureau County Jail. TRI-Dent consists of LaSalle, Streator, Princeton, Oglesby, Mendota, and Ottawa Police Departments along with LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam County Sheriff’s Offices.
