National Engineering Week just got a little sweeter with IVCC’s Edible Car Contest

OGLESBY – Local students brought the driving force back behind Illinois Valley Community Colleges Annual Edible Car Contest. After COVID-19 put the breaks on the event last year, students returned bringing just as much creativity into engineering an edible to human car to release down a timed track.

First place for the best design went to IVCC’s Women in Technology team. Most creative went to DePue High School’s,“Rápido Ramen”, a car made of raw ramen noodle. Putnam County Junior high won first place for most nutritious and LP-High School won’t for fastest edible car at .66 with, “Pickle Rick”.

Coordinator and Computer Aided Design Instructor Dorene Data says she’s happy to have the event back on track.
