STREATOR – Streator Township High schools FUSE therapy dog program is proving positive to students and plans are in the works to expand. Tom Edwards, the instructor of the program, presented his results to the board on the impact of his K9 Sophie on the students. Students also filled out a survey of their opinion on Sophie being present in the classroom. Results show a significant difference in attendance when Sophie was present, and a daily increase in positive behavior choices. Edwards plans on having his furry friend Sophie in the classroom from once a week to multiples times a week in the coming future.
