Mendota raises fines for false fire alarms

MENDOTA – False alarm fire calls in Mendota could soon cost property owners. The Mendota City Council on Monday approved a $250 fine for a second false alarm call and a $500 fine for any subsequent false alarms during any twelve month period. Property owners can ask for the penalties to be waived at the City Councils discretion. The rates for non-emergency medical care to assisted living, skilled nursing or similar institutional residences is also going to increase. Non-medical assistance, like lifting a patient, will be charged $150 for the second call and $300 for each call after that in a calendar year.
