OTTAWA – LaSalle County officials are reminding residents to dispose of their unwanted or expired medication as Saturday is National DEA Take Back Drug Day. Located at the LaSalle County Governmental Center’s north Sheriff’s exit, at the east entrance, County Jail, and the ground floor of the downtown courthouse are receptacles to dispose of your unused or expired prescription medications. The receptacle is available 24-7,365 days a year. The locations are available for use during business hours. Last year LaSalle County collected over 500 pounds of prescription drugs that were returned to the DEA for proper disposal. Liquids, aerosols or needles are not acceptable items.
