PERU – A Peru women has followed her dreams to the Professional Women’s Bowling Association tour.  Melanie (DeCarlo) McDaniel spent most of her childhood on the lanes at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl.  This year she will be full time on the PWBA tour, competing in two Illinois events, one in Rockford (May 12-15) and a major event, the Queens tournament in Addison. (May 18-24)

The Illinois Valley native bowled all four years on the L-P Township High School Varsity bowling team and was MVP her junior and senior years. She was a state qualifier her junior and senior year, with best finish, 7th place in 2008.

After high school, McDaniel had a full ride scholarship to Alabama A & M University. While there, she was a four time member of the SWAC first team, Freshman of the Year in 2008/2009 and Bowler of the year in 2011/2012.  She was also a four time NCAA all-American in her tenure.  In 2014, she was in a car accident that shifted her hips and shattered her dreams of joining the PWBA Tour. She was told by doctors that she would never be able to bowl again. Through physical therapy and determination, McDaniel made her debut on the professional tour last season.
