Utica intersection night work begins on Wednesday

OTTAWA – Night work to reconstruct the intersection of Illinois 178 and U.S. 6 in Utica will begin on Wednesday. The work is expected to take place through the end of the week, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Will will begin each evening after 6 p.m. and will be completed by 5 a.;m. the following morning. Work consists of temporary widening and building up the intersection with temporary placement to prepare for the conversion of the signalized intersection into a roundabout. All lanes will; remain open but the work will impact travel and may cause significant delays. Traffic may be reduced to one lane controlled by flaggers when workers are present. The $2.4 project is scheduled to be completed by fall.
