LaSalle’s First Ward Alderman resigns, planning commission chairperson fills seat

LASALLE A longtime Alderman for the city of LaSalle Has resigned. After 16 years on the city council, Alderman Diz Demes,  who represented the first ward, stepped down due to health concerns. A letter of resignation from Demes was read at LaSalle’s City Council meeting on Monday night. In the letter, Demes says it was an honor to be a part of the team that’s reestablished LaSalle as one of the leaders of the IV. Demes seat will be filled by zoning board chairman Bob Thompson who was sworn in that night. Thompson is a LaSalle native who’s served as Lieutenant for the Peru Police Department and as an International Police Advisor in Iraq.
