Streator approves contract for emergency personnel, services underway

STREATOR – The city of Streator’s ambulance service will be up and running come October 1st. Officials approved a contract with American Medical Response for emergency medical technician personnel services. The company will provide two certified paramedics as well as two EMT-B technicians for three years at an annual cost of over $1.1 million dollars. AMR, is expected to begin hiring personnel immediately. City officials last week approved purchasing an ambulance and equipment for its services. The city will have three ambulances total, two frontline, and a backup. It will cost the city under $400,000 overall.
