When Abigail, 7, and Cecilia, 4 wandered around their six acres of property in Louisiana with their dog Artemis and got lost, Artemis stayed by their side and kept them safe.
Their mother Mary said that it is not uncommon for the girls to go adventure around the property with Artemis by their side. Normally though, when she calls for them, the three come running with Artemis leading them back to the house. One day in November, that wasn’t the case. As night began to fall and they didn’t come back when she called for them, she contacted neighbors and 911 and a search party began.
When their neighbor found the girls, Artemis wouldn’t let him near them, protecting his girls. The neighbor believes the pup also protected them from a wild hog that he passed along the way.
Artemis hasn’t left the girls sides since returning home and has been enjoying sleeping next to Abigail nightly.
