LASALLE – Residents impacted by the Carus Chemical fire are left with questions, doubt and property damaged beyond repair.
At a packed LaSalle City Council Meeting, residents living near the chemical plant gave city officials an earful about what their lives have been like since the fire. One Porter Street resident says her property could have up to $200,000 in damages, but her main concern is the exposure and potential spreading of manganese
Other residents still have their pets is boarding facilities because they’re afraid to bring them back to exposed property.
The city announced they’ve hired a third party to perform environmental tests. City Engineer Brian Brown says its to help give residents peace of mind.
Results of those tests are expected at the end of week and addition testing can be done for residents by request.
