Alabama man helps his neighbors in unsuspecting way

ALABAMA — A man in Alabama was set to take a secret to his grave, however he let his children in on the secret before passing on New Years Day at 80 years old.  Hody Childress was an Air Force Veteran who had been helping his neighbors in an unsuspecting way.  For decades he had been donating $100 to the local pharmacy where he swore the pharmacist to secrecy that he did not want any one to know his name and he didn’t want to know who it helped.  He had been covering costs of medications for his neighbors who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to find a way to pay for them.

His son Doug said “It wasn’t surprising. There was more to daddy than this one story, he done a lot for everybody.” “It’s made us want to carry on what he’s been doing,” said his daughter Tania.  His children said the way their father lived made them want to be better people.
