UNDATED – Local legislators are wary of Governor J.B. Pritzker’s new spending plan. State Senator Sue Rezin and Senator Win Stoller weighed in
on the governor’s State of the State and Budget Address Wednesday afternoon. Prizker’s, “Smart Start Illinois” program dominated the fifth annual address calling for universal preschool in the state by 2027. While the Senators agreed on early education readiness, they fear the new 3 billion in spending for the various programs could cause a major tax increase in the future. Senator Rezin says she is concerned about other aspects that will potentially lead the state over a dangerous fiscal cliff down the road.
