OGLESBY – Illinois Valley Community College is all geared up for the annual Edible Car Contest, this year with a new and improved race track. This year’s contest features a student-built 2 ft by 8ft racetrack made of walnut lumber, repurposed material, and a computer to record speeds. The fully-automated track allows side-by-side racing with times recorded via RSLogix 500 programming. The public is welcome to attend the contest at noon on Wednesday in room CTC124. The friendly competition is sponsored by the Workforce Development Division celebrating National Engineering Week and features cars built entirely from food edible to humans.
